The Alano Club of El Cajon was first founded in 1966. We are driven by the belief that everyone deserves a chance at life free from the imprisonment of alcohol and other forms of addiction. The Alano Club of El Cajon is a vital community resource, helping to reduce alcohol and drug abuse, crime, and homelessness. The ACEC helps to strengthen families and improve the lives of all residents of San Diego County. The ACEC is governed by a non-paid Board of Directors elected from, and by its membership. In November 2000 a fire destroyed the original Club facility, causing the Club to close its doors, turning away hundreds of members who regularly attended meetings and other recovery related activities. Meetings were forced to relocate, and the Club's membership became increasingly distraught at the prospect that the Club may never be re-built. Even with insurance coverage the Club was confronted with the daunting prospect of raising private funds to re-build the Club facility. Through the sheer tenacity of key Club leaders, and the determination of the Club membership, not to mention the generous support of many volunteers, supplying building materials and hard work, the walls were raised and the Club reopened to continue its mission to serve San Diego County and the City of El Cajon. Serving all of East San Diego County Since 1966
